I’m Donna, a specialist trauma therapist based in Middlesbrough, offering EMDR, CBT, and integrative therapy in person and online. I have 19 years’ experience in the NHS (within Talking Therapies Services and a hospital Medical Psychology Department), where I supported adults living with trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, low self-esteem, and long-term health conditions. This has given me a deep understanding of how these difficulties can affect every part of life – and how therapy can help people move forward with greater resilience and hope.
The name Willow Tree was chosen because of what the willow represents. In many cultures, willow trees are symbols of resilience, renewal, and healing. They bend without breaking, adapt to their surroundings, and continue to grow even in difficult conditions. For me, this reflects the process of therapy – not about erasing the past, but about finding new strength and flexibility as you move forward.
In my private practice, I offer a compassionate, supportive space where you can explore your experiences safely and work towards meaningful change. Over the years, I’ve worked with people from many walks of life. I have a particular interest in supporting women working through trauma in midlife while navigating perimenopause and menopause. I also work with those who feel “stuck” and want to make changes in how they live, relate, or see themselves.
That said, I warmly welcome anyone who feels my words resonate with them. Therapy is always tailored to your unique needs, and we will work together at a pace that feels right for you.
I draw on evidence-based approaches including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and integrative modalities from my wider training. These therapies can help you process difficult experiences, reduce distress, and develop healthier ways of coping – so you can live a more connected and fulfilling life.
Whether you are seeking support for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, OCD, or the ongoing impact of life events, I am here to help. I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute phone consultation, so you can ask any questions and we can explore whether therapy feels right for you.
